The Free Speech Union of Australia has developed an online tool that helps you write a submission to send to Parliament on the Social Media Minimum Age Bill. The tool does most of the writing for you, tailoring the submission to your concerns. The goal is to persuade the Senate to vote against the Bill.
This is a vital battle in the fight for free speech. If passed, this Bill will not only seriously restrict the free speech of young Australians, it will probably also require all social media users to verify their age and identity with some sort of digital identification. This poses a threat to online anonymity, and to the rights of privacy and free speech of all Australians. This technology, once implemented, could potentially even be expanded to exclude people of any age from the internet for any reason. Given their track record, do we really want to give the government censors more power to decide who can and can’t go online?
Each submission generated is unique and you can edit it as you wish to make it more fully reflect your views, preferences, or style. Please hurry, as the Government has only given us until the end of today to get the submissions in - outrageous!
