New laws proposed by the Albanese government to crack down on social media platforms enforcement of the failed social media age restrictions.
Rather than just giving the eSafety commissioner more powers, we seek genuine transparency. Given eSafety's unacceptable secret censorship, we ask for full transparency, especially around internet censorship. The Senate should modify the bill to require full transparency about the algorithms and practices of social media companies, rather than another eSafety power grab. This is a position which was strongly supported within by some Senators already. We need to tell other Senators to support reform.
